What Is MCP? The USB Standard for AI
Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard created by Anthropic that defines how AI applications communicate with external data sources and tools. It provides a universal, standardized way for AI models to discover and use tools, access data, and execute actions — without requiring custom integration code for every connection.
MCP Host — The AI application (Claude Desktop, Cursor, your custom app) that wants to access external capabilities
